You guys are some special breed .
I photographed my first and last Wedding ,The wedding was my daughters ,how she ended up without a photographer is another story .So I ended up with the job .
What did I learn
1)One should never try and learn how to use a flash a few hours before the wedding! LMAO
2)Brides and grooms are not wildlife!
3)shooting a wedding is a lot of work and NOT very much fun!
4) I will never do another one, EVER!!!!
To all of you who do this job I have gained a great respect for the job you guys do ,it s a tough one!
I toasted you guys a few drinks Last night after the job was done and it was my time to party
So Cheers to you all!!!

Three weddings this week, one next week ... then I can finally relax again for a little while.
I love it. You're right, it's a LOT of work! I don't think I could do it full time as it would take the fun out of it for me. But doing it on the side ... it's like taking a break and going out and having fun. I love both the joy and the stress. Sometimes you get thrown a curve and have to think quick. It certainly keeps me on my toes.

I had one yesterday, a small re-wedding, 25th anniversary and they did the whole thing again.. It was fun. It is trying and like "The Shot" series, you have to be very fast... very very fast unless if you had a good choreography going on with the couple, which different place and time can be setup later or before the actual wedding... still during the wedding it's like running rabbit.
Lights are the most concern in weddings if you ask me. Flash photography usually (for me) gives me head ache. I created a little soft box that used, which worked fine. After the wedding, I put my two lights and used bounce (it was a smaller room) flash to take about 100 photos with bride groom and relative / friends.
Now you know how, you should try again ;)

Shooting wildlife is a lot more fun for me ,Load up the gear and go for a nice walk in the bush and relax and shoot.
Too many things to be control of, shooting weddings.
You guys have to work way to hard for your money !

The fact that it was your daughter's wedding probably added to the pressure and stress. |

I still feel I have alot of room for improvement with wedding shooting, but I enjoy it. At least doing it on the side like I do. I too do not think I could do it full time, but once I get more experience who knows! |

I love taking the photos I do not like having to come up with all the poses. I have been doing a lot of seniors and that is helping. I had rather do the sports photos. But I am starting to like the portrait's |

Ditto on enjoying the wildlife shooting.
I shoot one wedding per year, usually in April or May, and it isn't much trouble at all for me to do. I do it as a service for my family, or if no one in my family is getting married, then I do one for friends of the family who would not be able to pay to have a pro do it. I make them appoint someone to plan and set up the shots. That way I
only have to suggest things like "stop picking your nose for a minute" which usually makes it easy for me. I also set up a vid camera on a ceiling level tripod and let it roll too, to get the funny lines if they happen.
The food is always awesome and they always appreciate getting good photos.
