This is a cry to all the Fuji 3800 users. I hadn't used my camera in a bout a week or so, it was just sitting on my desk, now I tried to trun it on to take a picture and it powers on, lens extends, then the focus goes all in, then back out, then back in, then back out, over and over and over, and never brings up the EVF. I can look at the pictures on the card and transfer from the computer just fine, just can't take a picture. Anyone come in contact with this before.

Try taking out the battery and xD card and then putting them back in and starting it up, a "cold boot" so to speak. Also try making sure that the lens is clean and clear (lens cap off). Try geting it to focus on a subject that is reasonably close at about 4-6 feet, is well lighted, and has a good contrast with the background, and see what happens.Does switching to Macro mode have the normal effect?

I tried removing everything for a bit and putting it back, but that didn't help, I am recharging the Batteries now to see if that helps.

Well for anyone who cares, or for future reference, I put new charged batteries into my camera and it works fine now.

Sorry that I saw this thread too late to help you out. I had a similar problem once with my Sony. Fresh battery fixed it right up! Glad you found the problem, and that it was nothing serious.
