I noticed this list of photography books on another site and thought I'd share.

I second the Light, Science & magic - By far the best lighting book I found. Another one I would add is the Photographers Eye. I picked it up a few days ago and is pretty good from what I have read so far.... neither are the pretty picture books of most of the others. |

Photojournalism: Stories behind the images
Photojournalism
This book is outstanding just to leaf through on a daily basis, some incredible pictures. Also handy is the photogs talk about their equipment, lenses etc and why they did certain things over others.
Wild Amazon by Nick Gordon
Sadly, he died in 2004 but Nick Gordon is one of the best wildlife guys out there. He accompanied David Attenborough on a number of expeditions, is credited with the re-discovery of a bat species ppl thought was extinct and is generally an all round top dude. He was also a friend of my fathers. I love in this book how he talks about his 100-400 IS lens and how he thinks it's incredible sitting in a tree taking handheld pics at 1/30 at 400mm. Apparently he was enthusing so much about it to the sound guy that they had to re-record the session as all you could hear was him going "wow... 30th of a second... handheld! Beat that!" |
