my Strobe/Flash Kit

I need some sort of adapter to sync with my camera. Would I get this: Hot Shoe Adapter

And if so, how do I use it. Im new to all this stuff and equipment, so Im not sure what the heck I am doing.

If this is not what I need, what do I need. The cord from the strobe/flash, does not fit into the camera. Please help. Im begging you, please please please.

Thank you all in advance for any advice.

The PC Sync Cord that came with your lights does not fit in your camera. Correct?

Can you show us what the plug on the back of your lights looks like?

I ask because you may be able to use this:

First let me ask this:

What is a hotshoe exactly? Is this something that is already on your camera? Sorry, I just have no idea what I am doing when it comes to this side of setup.

You are correct the PC sync cord does not fit my camera. I can't get a picture of it now, but if you look at the link to the picture of the lights, I think it shows it on there. BTW, I have a Canon Rebel XTI.

Thanks,

The hot shoe is the piece on top of the camera just behind the flash.

The metal slots for a flash or a wireless trigger to go:

I will go take a photo of my alien bees plug and see if it matches what you need

Jamie. This is the EXACT same thing as I have. Here's what you have to do. The hotshoe will plug into the flash and then the other end into your hotshoe. Because there is only 1 hole for you to hook it up the flash the other one will flash automatically when the other one does.

If you want to hook up both you will need a 3 way splitter that allows you to hook up more than one flash. I'm guessing you might be able to buy them at radio shack. It would be in the radio section. You could also get it at a computer store.

Take the cable that came with the flashes to make sure that you get the right size splitter.

what size plug is on the light. Because if you can go wireless I would HIGHLY recommend it

Okay, so what you are saying is, I need to buy the hotshoe, correct? Which I linked in my original post below. I also need to get a 3 way splitter, but bring the pc sync cord with me? Correct?

Correct, if you want to cord all flashes.

I personally am going wireless so I don't have to wire all this. But you are correct

So, If I bought this, this would be all I would need, or would I need other stuff? I just went to the ritz camera store to ask him what he thought I needed and he said what I needed would be about $70.00. Not sure now....I will trust you. So this is all I would need?

I am going to give you more advice if you choose to listen I don't care but this is what I have come to realize. Wolf/Ritz camera is a rip off. You can expect higher prices from them.

Yea I noticed that when I went in there. I won't use them again. I didn't buy anything from them needless to say. Thanks for the advice.

I agree with this some what. It really depends on what you are buying. Put it this way. Wolf camera/ is like the Macy's as EBay is to the Wal-Mart.

If you have the money and you want it now, by all means head on over to Wolf Camera. If you want to spend less money and give it some time to get to you then EBay.

Wolf camera you can take your defective equipment back the same day it breaks if you're warranty is still valid. Ebay well good luck...

I can't say that if you bought the wireless V@ flash system off of eBay that it will be all you will need. I don't know what all you're trying to do. I personally don't have that system yet so I don't know if anything else would be required for it to work. I just know that it should and that is what I will be getting shortly after I resave some money. (buying a lens tomorrow)

I don't know how much you do photos hoots and where you are doing them. I don't know if you are trying to do all indoor photography (studio), or outdoor shots.

But I can tell you this. For a beginner the set up that you bought off eBay is good enough to help get your foot into a door. After a while you would slowly want to upgrade equipment and software if you want to go pro.

Some day I will go there and I would like to do weddings and schools. And a lot of other types of indoor studio like shots. But for now... Well lets just say that I wouldn't show up at a professional photographers convention with a hand held point and shoot if you know what I mean.

And buy the way, if you want some camera filters, at wolf camera it's buy 2 get 1 free.
