some of you veterans help me better understand what a low number of comments mean? Is is an indicator for the mundane?

Thanks,
lp

i tend not to comment on some really great photos because i gave them a good score and i don't know what else to say really except it's a really great photo and if i comment that then i probably gave you a 7, 8 or 9. i'm starting to do that though because, although, i think the low scoring ones should get more comments than they do, the higher rated ones want comments, too, so i'm trying.

however, i still wish more people would comment when they score someone a 1, 2, 3 or even 4. i need to know why you guys think it rates that in order to improve and i'm getting very few comments and the ones i do get are generally good. from the comments i've received, it ain't the people who gave me a 1 commenting.

Lack of comments = lack of strong reaction to the image. Really good images and (sometimes) really bad images get a lot of comments. A really low number of comments pretty much means nobody cares one way or the other. Which is the logical fate of most images in most challenges, actually.

Thank you both for the explanation. I believe that due to my inexperience my entries are so so. But that is okay by me. These past 54 years have taught me that with practice, diligence and patience things generally improve. Well not everything.................HA! HA!

Beyond what Robert said, if you want real feedback on your image, wait until after voting is over, then post it to the forums, and ask for feedback. A lot of people have given up on giving real feedback during voting (plenty of other threads about why this is), but are plenty willing to give constructive feedback if you ask.
