OK, so I'm not a brain surgeon, and RAW is pretty new to me. I want to burn about a gig of raw (well, the card's full anyway) files to a CD. I know that the RAW files are the CRW, but what are the THM files? And, do I need to include them on the CD in order to open the RAW files?

The THMs are the little generated thumbnails - they're very small and it won't hurt to burn them with the RAW files. And I might mention that now is a good time to pick up an external hard drive with a USB interface - check for after Christmas sales!

And I'd love to say that I stayed in a Holiday Inn Express last night, but no, I'm still here in Baghdad. :-)

What are you doing in Baghdad? Stay safe.

Kelli, just remember that a CD won't hold a GIG - I think it's around 600MB, but it might be 400MB. I rarely burn 'em, so I don't remember. But you're gonna need at least 2.

If you have a DVD burner, that is a much better way to archive image files than CD. Each holds 4 Gigs + of data, and the format is more stable. The external HD is the way to go though. I back up weekly to the external HD, then monthly to DVDs.
