Please do not get frustrated by the low scores.
I am not the most qualified one to help you, but I will always be available to give you my honest opinnion on any of your images, and will also share my thoughts about possible improvements. Then, of course, I will not vote on it.

Oddity, I posted a "why did this do so poorly?" request on one of mine that I really thought was great but did only mediocre. I got more out of that shot in the way of helpful suggestions than I would have gotten if I'd gotten a good score. In that regard it was a success for me.

If you enjoy it, then keep at it. My own score in this challenge is doing only so-so and It is a shot I really think is good. Some of the comments show me that others like it as well and have given it high votes, but others have been giving it 3's and 4's.

I'm now very curious to see which entry is yours and if I got around to voting on it. (BTW, I usually comment on everything I vote on, so if I gave you a low vote, you will most of the time know why.)

Be persistent, you scores WILL go up. I joined about the same time as you. For my first five entries, I had three with a score under 5, and two with a score between 5 and 5.5. However, I did not let that slow me down, and kept entering and learning as I went, and I have done much better since then. Those low scores are now at the bottom of my page where no one sees them (unless they look real hard).

One thing I found to be extremely helpful is to enter the side challenges. Side challenges tend to have a lot more commenting than main challenges (especially early in the month). Plus you can feel free to do some experimenting in the side challenges without having to worry about a low numerical score. Finally, in the course of one month you can get feedback on 30 photos, which really accelerates the learning curve.

i'm sorry for moaning. i'm frustrated because of the lack of comments on the image. i have decided to leave it in and take my lumps like everyone else does. however, once it's over, i do want some comments so i can figure out where to go next. so you're all on the hook for that now ;)

thanks for all the encouragement. i have really taken it to heart.

Hey, puckzzz, thank you for helping me beat you! My next best score is 6.26something, this might be the first time I have a chance at top-10 :-)

Looking forward to see if I have helped you, too ... but you beat me in Faves by an infinite percentage!

Edited, as score went up before I was done posting here. Crazy this time, when I was at 6.6ish I was thinking that with the usual waves of ups and downs, I'd be lucky to cling onto that. Since that, it has been only ups! Trolls are still on vacation?

Four favourites is encouraging...I love this shot and it's one of my personal faves too. I was sure it would score better than this though, but I guess I don't know much about DPC voter taste yet.
