| So my best friend proposed to his girlfriend this weekend. One of my presents to him is that i want to do he and his fiance's engagement photos. They've never heard of engagement photos so I'm looking for examples to show them what they are. Anyone have an engagement photos or websites that can i can use to show them examples. |

Here are two I did for my sister and her husband last year.
I took the advice from  dwterry and did a couple posed shots, but mostly photo journalistic.
There were the two finalists that my sister picked from. They just happened to like the posed shot.

| Thank you. Those are gorgeous photos. Similar to some of the shots I'm going to do of them...prolly going to do extra of them alone (one on one) and some of just the ring....etc. |

| I was going to do a ring inside of a rose...just never had time. I think someone may have posted a photo similar to that here. |

I've done 2 engagement shoots.
The first couple's can be viewed here. They chose this shot for their invitations.
I recently did these for a close friend. They havn't picked out a shot yet (I just finished them today).

| Thank you..that's perfect. That would give them a complete spectrum on the type of photos it could be. That was exactly what i was looking for. |

IMO, it is basically the 'first' couple portraits....usually showcasing the 'ring'...

I use engagement pictures to create the wedding invitation.
What I want to see in an engagement picture ... is generally candid looking shots, as if I were an unseen spectator witnessing the love they feel for each other. I'll get some 'posed' shots here and there (ones where they are looking at the camera, obviously aware of its existence), but the rest, I like the images to look more like they didn't know I was there. The story is about them ... being engaged to each other and the love they feel for one another.
