If you had to choose between these 2..
Acer
or
Sony
My dad sent me 500 bucks for Xmas-- Im debating between these 2 notebooks--
Also considering getting a XBOX360, 70-200 F4L, or a EX430 flash..
Money is burning a hole, lmao

What a loaded question...I would carry around some First Aid cream and some gauze until your wounds heal...

Lucky you! What a great gift!
I would go with the Sony. I've never had any problems with anything Sony. I got a new Dell in October and it's the worst computer I've ever had. My desktop is fine, but my laptop leaves much to be desired!
If you really can't decide between the two, the Xbox is fun too! Good luck with your decision! |

I bought many many Sony laptops for my company, fine screens and thin design. very little complains. The only little thing is that if you want to wipe the operating system that comes with the machine out and put on some other ones, then the special partition in Sony might mess up your installation if you are not an expert. But, if that is not the case, then go for Sony.

I've heard somewhere that for extra money that you can get the Sony's without the Crapware that they load on the f'd up sponser driven consumer models... if you are not going to ghost (image) it, it is almost worth the extra money.
I worked a Brand New Sony yesterday for the wife's CFO, what a piece of shiznit... not the laptop but all the crapware that they put on it. People say Vista Sux... it's not Vista it is the 17 Sony preloaded trial apps, AOHell, Sprint, Roxio, Google, Corel, Adode trail crap that is preloaded...
ED: It takes almost 15 minutes to uninstall Adode Acrobat 8 professional trial alone...
It's alright for me 'cause I charge them $100 to get the crapware off..

I agree. I think that's why I dislike my Dell so much. It came with so much crap! Crap that didn't even work properly. That Corel Snapfire that came with mine got trashed the second I turned on the laptop. I think they should give you a discount if you request to not have that crap. |

Best thing to do with any new prefab computer is format the hard drive and do the install of the OS yourself.
But, buzz, man.. I thought your dad wanted you to spend the money on another date with that drag queen?
Oh... and I'd go with the Acer or the L.
