Not sure our fearless leader and spouse will accept that too readily, except of course for their natural good grace :-)

My thoughts exactly, but you beat me to it.

I'd be delighted to be proven wrong on this one, 'cuz that would mean we have at least 4 excellent poets in Team Suck, and you can never have too many poets IMO. However, unless "our fearless leader and spouse" are on the same team within Team Suck, then the bear/raish et al team may still be the strongest team poetically?

Totally with you in principle, but I was stopped the other day and I showed the officer my poetic licence . . .

I doubt anyone would call what I write poetry (it's not very poetic [pdf], I'd say), but I do sometimes have the urge. Now, if I only knew something about it, maybe I would do it more often. Writing, and perhaps even poetry, seems to fit my mood right now more than photography, I think (though it looks like I finally have an entry, for Perspective V, let's see if I get it processed in time). Nevermind, I'm on the wrong team for poets anyway . . .

I'm so sorry to hear about all the trouble people are having (I haven't been writing here in the thread, but I've been reading, and I am sending all the extra good thoughts and hopes I have your way; please, when you can, keep us updated), but am thrilled by the successes (way to go on your betterphoto shot!).

Happy Holidays, all!!

Best,

Bruce

I'm not a poet, nor have I ever played one on TV. We do have Suckers, though, who create amazing poetry with their cameras.

You don't need to be a poet, you're my MUSE and that's more than sufficient unto the cause :-)

Heh! I suppose that'll just have to do as my contribution in the poetry department. :-)

Hey Don, I think you'll like my perspective entry. It's just about the opposite to my glassware in every respect I can think of. :)

And congrats, Lea!

Check out this Gary Fong Puffer diffuser. I can't recommend it, because I haven't tried it yet. But for $20, I thought it was worth a try, and I have ordered it. My thought is that if it works well, I might be able to stall off the Canon 430 purchase for a while.

Congrats, Lea - very well deserved! And nice score, Kelli. I forgot to enter. Well, not really. Just wasn't paying attention to the day and time. Well, not really that either. Just didn't enter. I'll probably stick the shots in my portfolio later.

Thanks for the good thoughts for my sister. She's still at home for now, still very miserable, and still hoping for surgery for one of the problems just after the first of the year.

Oh, and Merry Christmas Eve. It's Monday here.

Special thanks to quiet_observation for filling in for me; this is the first time I've had internet access on something other than my phone on this trip. I'm an internet junkie, so lack of email/dpc has been rough.

Julianne - I bought one because I was in "impulse buy" mode one day. I think that it does do a good job of diffusing flash in a close-up portrait mode. And I have not tried it outdoors yet. BUT if you are doing a group portrait in a low-light setting, you will see where the light comes over the diffuser (i.e. in your pic you will see the line between diffused and brighter white). Of course, it coule be that i am an idiot and am not using it properly :)
