Eh, I am not found of the processing I did. Felt like I processed my way in. Shot is fine, processing not.
And it will probably end up on my front page anyways, which I am not too sure I want.

Look at it this way. At some point you'll be thrilled when it is bumped off your front page.

I had an out-of-focus pile of candy on my front page for what seemed like a century.

Sad to say--about what I expected!

Good point, Deb. Btw, I notice they're putting up *your* tutorials... hmm...

I can't get over this idea of Leader-In-Exile, though... I want sunglasses and a sunhat, and I want to issue all my commands from a beach lounger...

Posthumous it just might be that change is in the air...there's talk of boredom, problems being discussed and even revolution.

People are asking for more interesting challenges...I know who's got a mind full of 'em.
They're tired of the same old images...well fancy that, maybe they're getting ready to open their minds.
True, the discontent might blow over but with a little encouragement it might bring change.

And btw there are plenty of people on this site that have a great deal of respect for you and the effort you put into this site, you know, us, your rag tag odd assortment of DPC misfits.

Yebbut would that make you our not quite so fearless leader, that doesn't sound nearly as dashing.

Okay, but I have demands:

1. a pair of huge wraparound sunglasses.
2. I must be played by Marlon Brando (fat version).
3. hundreds of extra-stinky Cuban cigars.
4. Jeffrey has to wear a tuxedo and bring me exotic drinks (a different one every day), and my messages, transcribed onto bar napkins, as I sit by the pool. Everything he brings me must be on a tray that he amusingly balances as he navigates around the sunbathers.
5. Rob (Bruce) Heverley must write hideous lies about me in a bestselling expose.
6. scalvert will attempt to assassinate me, but fail, landing him in the infamous DPC "Hole" until he goes mad.

We can fix the props, but there's been a serious run on exile locations recently. The views here can be quite breathtaking at times, though.

The commenter liked the shot, but now I feel deflated, not sure why I entered the bestof2007 shot that I did.
BestOf2007 sitting at a 6.2... Thinking about a selfDQ at this point.

I'm guessing what you are really upset about is that it is going to ruin your string of brown ribbon winning shots - heh. :P Congrats anyway on a nice score during the BEST OF.

I've got the cigars, I hope you like the Rum soaked ones :D And of course you must be played by Brando it'll be the role of his life, the one he's been waiting for. ( is he still alive? doesn't matter he can play you posthumously)

Oops I left out a few...
Jeffrey dear do change into a tux and fetch our fearless leader something exotic and cool please.

Rob (Bruce) Lie lie lie and make it huge as befitting the leader of the underground revolution.

And of course Scalvert will try and assassinate you I thought he'd tried already...numerous times.

Don - I am so sorry to hear that you have become so disenchanted with DPC to the point of not wanting to be a regular member any more.

Before joining TS, my thoughts about DPC were that it reminded me of high school. Lots of cliques, and it was easy to tell the difference between the freshmen and the seniors. Then I found TS and it was a whole new ballgame. Lots of support and encouragement, and rejoicing in photos that went beyond eye candy shots. I don't participate much in this thread, but I do try and comment on a lot of TS shots because I enjoy those photos and love the people who took them. And I can regularly count on a comment from a TSer AFTER a challenge has ended - I usually look forward to that.

I also enjoy receiving comments from you because your perspective is different and the words you give go beyond the technicals. It's like you actually look for the meaning behind a photo - and that does not seem to happen much here.

So I don't know if you are moving on, but if you are, I wanted to let you know that I appreciate what you've done here!

When we move next can we move into a barn please? I'm just liking the idea of being a barn cat.

Okay, for my Security Concerns:

7. a high-powered water gun loaded with stale Poland Spring water, in which the unsuspecting nose catches a trace of scat. Jeffrey must keep this filled at all times!
8. jaysonmc and bmartuch should always be nearby, and heavily armed.
9. A GPS needs to be implanted into Strikeslip. He will be jealous of my power and I must know where he is at all times. I suggest you have Silverfoxx slip him a mickey.

The ego is getting too much! Power corrupts, absolute power corrupts absolutely!! It isn't Slippy the Impostor you need to worry about, but his minions. That village burning Art took up the contract on you! Get back in TS where you are safe!

I don't think they will. This crowd strikes me more of a hard liquor or beer kind. So another means will have to be thought of.

Pardon my language but I am f***ing seething. There is no reason on earth for this pic to be doing so poorly. I expected it to start well over 5.

I know I'm not the only one whose score in Childhood is tanking, but recently this site has really started to get under my skin. Does nobody appreciate a sharp, clear photo featuring some decent composition and flow and oh yeah the requisite level of saturation to make the colours pop?!

Anyone else (besides me and Don) getting fed up?

What the comments about too much NI?, when none has been used? And all the other comments? I have had my fill of stupid, dumbass comments over the past few challenges. Don't get me wrong, a critical comment is okay, but most comments come from no challenge, one day registered users!

Fed up, NO! I am pissed off with DPC at the moment. We have split into a PS elite and a numbskull troll voters. I give up with challenges for now!

No sweat, Don. But you'll have to let me know whether you want your drink in the top glass, middle, or bottom.

*cackles evilly to think he made Don see this thumbnail again*

I am with ya!

My No Children shot came to me in the middle of the night. (seriously) I actually got out out of bed, gathered the items needed, set up the shot and spent a couple hours shooting and processing. I thought I had something that might actually contend, not to mention was not a sell out.

I am sitting at 4.85.

I will never lose sleep over this place ever again... I will simply go out and shoot swings that are moving without kids on them like everyone else did, they are likely getting the 7's.
01/23/2008 07:00:26 PM · #1025
Glad to see I'm in good company :-) And yes there are what, a dozen or so empty-swing shots? Not that there's anything wrong with that...but I did my best to give my photo every chance of scoring well enough to go on my homepage.

The subjects are cute, the composition isn't brilliant but it works, there is the expected heavy saturated colour blasting from *almost* every pixel...hell I even have some flow and decent dof going...

Personally methinks some bunch of Jackass rejects stumbled onto dpc and are just playing merry hell with the scores, possibly changing their scores all the time?!

So I may well take some time off from dpc, not because I want to, but because it's very effing annoying to have a really good camera to work with, and a half-decent eye to shoot with, and a light enough hand in the PSP to (hopefully) not overdo the pp which has been tinkered with to appeal to the colour-hungry dpc crowd...and all your hard-earned work drags in at 4.2?!

Sorry but that's just not on.

Now where's the nearest swing set...and I'll shoot it in b/w...

I guess I just won't care what I'm shooting or how I'm processing it, I'll just take a technically perfect but emotionally vacant pic that loosely fits the parameters of a challenge, and see how I do then. But if my scores rocket, then I'll have no choice but to consider self-banishment too.

That bale of hay over there with the horseblanket draped over it is mine...

OK rant over, now going home with my dollies to watch Gordon Ramsay disembowel some chef and/or restauranteur.
