Love the Posthumous comment on my TL entry -- half a screen worth. Thanks, Don, the comment is worth more than the photo. I do love these new rules, but there will be some interesting times trying to shake them out. |

We don't get fog in this part of Florida. But when the end of the dry season comes, I might have some opportunities for heavy smoke.
ETA: Maybe if I got up early enough in the morning, I could find some fog in the Everglades. I'll check that out -- maybe for my River shot. Hmmm, good idea. It is called the "River of Grass".

You can remove mist from your windshield with the mist setting on your wipers. |

Thanks for all of the birthday wishes. Sadly, today was the day at work where everything broke, and while none of it was my fault most of the things were programs I had written. Let me tell you, those traders can be extremely vocal and unhappy if they can't get their price feeds!
My boss (trying to figure out why everything is failing): What's different today compared to Friday?
Me: Today's my birthday!
My boss: Don't have one tomorrow, and let's see if that fixes things.
"Too much work" has been keeping me from having some quality time behind the lens lately, but I have a trip back to California in a couple weeks where I can escape work and winter, and get to enjoy myself again.

Love the bosses response to not have a birthday tomorrow.
Happy birthday, may the rest of the year be the opposite of this day!

Yay, Bruce!!
And grrrr..... my "show time" for my flight outta here to Kuwait isn't until 2345 - quarter to midnight. That means the actual flight is 4-7 hours after that. Somehow when I said I wanted to go on Tuesday, I thought that would mean Tuesday. On the plus side, I have nothing to do at work - I finished up everything yesterday - so I can comment alot, I suppose. Grrrr...... |

Home to my pod in Kuwait for now. Then I have to start working the how to get back to Germany thing. If we had money in our organization, I could just book a commercial flight, but we don't so I can't. I'm at the mercy of military transportation. |

To the best of my knowledge, not a single one. It's flat, it's desert, and the only water is the gulf. I suppose there are run-off ditches, but you can just imagine how well a beige run-off ditch would do at DPC. :-)

Hmmmm you're right, a beige run off ditch doesn't seem quite the DPC thing, I don't think even oversaturating helps with beige. Oh well. |

There's a mist setting on my wipers? Are you serious? I never heard of such a thing shouldn't someone have told me that important information for our annual hour of mist. |

Originally posted by wikipedia: Mist is a phenomenon of small droplets suspended in air. It can occur as part of natural weather or volcanic activity, and is common in cold air above warmer water, in exhaled air in the cold, and in a steam room of a sauna. It can also be created artificially with aerosol canisters if the humidity conditions are right.
The only difference between mist and fog is visibility [1]. This phenomenon is called fog if the visibility is one kilometre or less (in the UK for driving purposes the definition of fog is visibility less than 200 metres, for pilots the distance is 1 kilometre). Otherwise it is known as mist. Seen from a distance, mist is bluish, while haze is more brownish. |

But Deb's acid treatment could work wonders. |

I'll have you guys know that I went out shooting for Rivers and Streams. It's still many hours until I get to go sit at the flightline for more hours, so I took the camera and went in search of water. I have no idea if I got anything worthy of a challenge, or that resembles a stream or river in any way, but I plan to edit the freakin' daylights out of it. I'll HDR it (from a single RAW - I have no tripod so can't shoot multiples), I'll dodge and burn it, I may selectively discolor and desaturate, only to paint in new and different colors. It'll look like Washington state when I'm done. People will think it's Achoo's, except for the fact it probably won't be a waterfall unless I can figure out how to do that with time lapse or something.... |
