Hi everyone
I'll be leaving the US to Vietnam in a week. As you all know Vietnam is a tropical country and usually very hot and humid. The average temperature and humidity at this time are 90 degree and 100%. I'll be riding on a lot air conditioned taxis and buses to shooting loactions, this is when I'm afraid of condensation forming inside my cameras and lenses when I step out of the AC into the hot and humid environment.
Many posts recommended to use a large zip-block bag to seal the camera and lenses for about 30 minutes to prevent condensation. A few posts recommended to just leave the camera and lenses in the camera bag and let the temperature inside adjust to the outside. I have a Lowepro Slingshot 300AW, and I have a couple of desiccant gel bags in it.
I know the zip-block method is the best, but what about the second method? I like it more because the time that takes me to the shooting location is enough for the temperature inside the bag adjust.
The posters that recommended using the zip-block method did not specify the size of their camera and lens combinations. I'll be shooting mostly with the 40D + grip + 24-70 f/2.8 or 40D + grip + 70-200 f/2.8 IS, do you think there is a large enough zip-block bag that can to hold those combinations?
What if I have condensation inside my camera and lens? What do I need to do? How long do I have to wait for the condensation to go away before I can shoot again? Should I get more desiccant gels?

A - you can buy zip-lock bags in lots of different sizes, so buy the one that will fit your camera/lens combo. :)
B - you might also include some silica packs to help keep moisture away from the camera -- I keep a handfull in the camera bag all the time, just in case.

I'm not sure if they sell them at consumer level, but they make zip lock brand bags up to 2 ft X 3 ft for commercial kitchen use, and storage. My daughter in law who is a commercial pastry chef, ( Wow Yum!) got a batch of them for us to use on our sailing cruise to the Bahamas a while back. Maybe you can find where to get them locally thru the Zip Lock website.
