I've never run adobe gamma on my computer and I double checked the start up folder.

I read thru the knowledge base and I can't seem to figure things out.

Hey, thanks so much for all your posts, BTW. :)

If you have Photoshop loaded up it will automatically be in your start-up folder.

Are you using any power-saving mode on the laptop? Laptops will have different monitor modes when they are plugged-in or using laptop battery.

On XP click on start then Run, for Vista just click on start and then in the search area type in Run and hit enter.

When that comes up type in MSconfig and hit enter. When the window pops up click on the startup tab and scroll through the list to find Adobe Gamma. When you find it uncheck it and click apply, then okay. Restart your machine. You will get a popup right off the bat. Ignore it and check the box that says âdon't show this message againâ. When you want it back on just go back in and re check it and save, then restart.

Try that. If you DO NOT see it in there then you are not running it and shouldn't need to do anything else.

AND BTW make sure that you're laptop is plugged in. Anytime you do anything to a laptop it should always be plugged in.

Okay good stuff guys. Thanks for sticking with me.

I have my power settings to high performance but with a vaio setting that extends battery life so the batt stops charging after 50%. Not sure if that is the problem.

Gonna check the gamma in the start up make sure it aint there. Be right back!

EDIT: No Adobe Gamma in the start up. Shoot! What is the problem?

If you don't have any Adobe products loaded up on the computer then you don't need to disable it. If in the future you upload an Adobe product you wou have to disable it.

What Video Chipset does your Vaio have... I didn't see that mentioned. If the nVidia, where'd you get your driver?

The nVidia chipset rocks but it is easy to combine your calibrated settings with the nVidia Desktop/Control settings. When calibrated it is best to set your vid card/chipset to default.

Anywho's let me know what Video Chipset you have on your Vaio and I'll take a look around.

Note: With Vista you don't have to type Run (you can but that is an extra step) any app that runs a GUI interface can be run from the Search field.

Yeah, I did all that.

When I run the app nothing seems to change at all. I dont get any changes int he values of brightness, contrast or gamma in the display graphics properties.

I am so fed up with this I am ready to return it for something else.

Final Update:

It seems that the hardware piece is defected. Trying to return it to adorama for a new or a refund.

Thanks everyone for all your help!
