I found an N this afternoon which completes my alphabet. I'm still going to be looking for replacement letters though, especially the I and G. Anyway, I went ahead and made my final poster. I did this in photoshop cs 3 with "contact sheet II" in the Automate menu. I let photoshop load them up as layers and then added the text and arrangement..What do you think of this layout?

I've been thinking about this side challenge and it seems really fun. I think all the different themes is going to keep it fresh and interesting all month.
Do you think a theme of "animals" would be too broad? It's definitely my favorite subject in the world, and the one I would have the most opportunity to photograph on the side of a pretty demanding month?
If so. . . .count me in!

Hey Sandy, Animals would be fine! Remember this isn't tied to the month of January either, so if you want to get more specific like primates, mammals, or even differing poses of a single animal you can do that. You get to pick the number of photos and take as long as you need to complete them. The idea is to pick a "project" that you've always wanted to do and hopefully be encouraged to complete it no matter how long it takes. Give some thought to your project and let me know how many photos you want to do. If you want 30 photos of animals then that is what I'll put you down for.
I have to pick a new project myself....

Ok. Great!
How about 30 photos of animals. . .I'd like to do all kinds since we'll be making photo-collages. I'm thinking 5 across and 6 down would make a cool collage. I'm going to try to square crop them all. .. orrrrrr. . . .maybe I'll make them all different sizes and make the collage that way. But put me down for 30.
So how does it work? When does it begin? Will there be a daily thread that we post our photos to?
This is going to be so fun and photographically healing for me. I can't wait to get started. . .I wish I could go now, but it's dark outside :)

Can I join as well? This sounds like one I might actually stick too :)
I'd like to do "dogs" ..I'm a groomer,so it's easy to get pics of all different breeds and such!
I don't know how many...maybe around 25ish? |

Welcome SandyP and CWelch! I've updated the original post with your topics and number of pictures.
You can start any time that you want. What do you guys think about starting a new topic "Official Themed Free Study Collage" side challenge posting thread? There are only a couple of us that have already started and we have just been putting them in here. We are now up to 8 folks though so maybe it would be better to start a new thread?
I would like to see posting of individual photos for commenting and then a final posting of your collage once it is complete.
I think we have a great mixture of collages going on here and I can't wait for people to start posting. I'm still undecided on mine because I just completed my alphabet one and I need to decide on a new theme for this challenge. Any suggestions? I'm thinking about "Dramatic Skys" all taken from my back yard. It might get boreing for you guys to see skys but the final poster would be awesome!
Oh and I would love to see the names for the animals and dogs..I mean the type of dog, not their names :) |

Yes, I think we should to start a new official thread, so we'll all know exactly where to go to comment and see everyone's work.
I need to get out and take some animal photos. I was thinking it started 1/1.
This will be fun :) |
