I've tried to find info in the forums before posting but came up with nothing.
Our strobes are not in sync with my pop up flash (350d), is there any way to set my flash to manual as we over came this problem with my husbands nikon d50 by setting flash to manual. We have sync leads but nowhere to plug it into on the canon.
Thanks in advance. |

You can buy a hot shoe mount for your 350D that you can plug a sync cord into. I have one and it works great.

| Thanks, yes I knew that but was hoping there was some way to set the flash to manual. Looks like I'll have to hope for the adaptor in my stocking! |

I think you are having ETTL prelash issues, if it is...easy to fix
The REAL problem is not the sync, it is the PREFLASH that is triggering off your flases early and then the actual flash will not have any charge a fraction of a second when later needed to fire.
Hit the * with your right thumb and that will fire the preflash and you will see a * in the bottom of your eyepiece and you are good to go. When you fire off your flash it will be in sync. ****FOR THAT SHOT ONLY**** then you need to press the * before the next shot, REPEAT as nessisary
I hope I am right and would like an update if this helped.

What he said.
Other options are to get a cheapo shoe mount flash or the as before mentioned hot shoe to PC sync adaptor.

I put my hand over the onboard flash and hit the preflash so I do not trigger the strobes. If your strobes are fireing everytime you hit the preflash, you will use the strobes 50% more and you will be able to take 50%less if you are running off of battery.
Did this sove the issue? |
