I'm tired of running through batteries like there is no tomorrow on my 580ex flashes. Anyone know or use any brand or type of rechargable batteries with decent results on canon flashes. Any advice would be much apperciated. Trevor~

I use Energizer 2500mAH batteries in both of my 580's. I also use them in my CPE3 that I use to power them. Lots of power, lots of shots and quick recycle. They last just over a year before you can notice they lose some of their staying power. 10 dollars for 4.

I am only buying eneloop now (amazon e.t.c. all have them). Only around 2000 instead of the 2500's BUT they keep their charge a LOT longer. They are about the same price.

Just for the record, I'm using Energizer 2500's myself. I have 2 sets of four. Keep the spares in the bag, and charge the dead set as soon as I get home - same as I do for the camera battery.

Only been using mine for < 6 months in the flash, but I've used them in other stuff for ages (other camera, toys, etc).

I probably change them over every couple of weeks or so, so long-term charge holding in the bag is not really an issue. I think they have to sit around for a couple of months before charge holding is an issue.

Just get a good system going so you ALWAYS have a fresh set waiting, and mark the batteries in sets, so you always keep the same set together. I have dedicated sets of four, and twos for other devices, and each battery is marked with a letter, so I can tell which batteries go together. Fresh batteries are kept in a zip-lock bag (one bag per set), dead batteries left outside the bag, and popped in the charger as soon as I get home. As soon as they are charged, they go back in the zip-lock bag, and back in the camera bag.

Thanks for the input and good idea on numbering the batteries to keep them in the same set together. I'm going w/ the energizers and will probably pick up a a bunch so I can use some for the canon s3 as well. Thanks again everyone for your time and input.
