That's how many US dollars are going to be spent on the military campaigns in Iraq and Afghanistan between now and September 2008.
US Senate passes Iraq funds bill
The total population of Iraq + Afghanistan is 59.5 million. So it works out at over $3,000 per head of population. Why not just give the Iraqis the money instead, providing they promise not to kill anyone? - Or how about giving them $3,000 each if they convert to Christianity? That ought to at least get rid of the suicide bombers. |

That has to rank as possibly the least sensitive thing I've seen up here in a long time. It's so wrong it makes me snort with laughter. I'm giving jhonan the benefit of the doubt and assuming that's the way he intended it to be taken, but oh, golly... :-)

| 2.3 million barrels of oil are pumping out of Iraq each day now, more than Iraq under Sadaam. At $100 per barrel or thereabouts, $189 billion is a small investment ;). |

The US still pays for the oil, above and beyond the $189B.
