I was wondering what type of printer will be good to print at parties. A photographer told me I can make some money at parties, printing the pics on spot. Say 4x6, or 5x7 prints. I was looking at a hp printer at Walmart where you put the memory card in and you can view the pics on the 2.5inch screen, before printing out! Any suggestions? |

I did a similar thing with my epson printer. At one event I printed 5x7s right on the spot as the customer waited...didn't work good for me on this moment cause I was alone but luckily I didn't have tons of people waiting. At our church my wife and I took pictures of families in front of a scene. After about 10 shots (or when their was a break in people), I would hand the card to my wife and she would print them out, while I deleted a new card and started on a new set. We hung them on a cord with a cloths pin and they just took them when they came out of the service. (4x6)
As far as I know you can't get a printer that does just 5x7 and 4x6 without 8x10 but you can find ones that print just 4x6s. This would be my choice so that you don't get people saying they want a bigger print. Also the 4x6 printers are smaller and easier to carry. |

I use an HP 8250 to print proofs on site in weddings.
A complete A4 prints with excellent quality takes 1 minute more or less to come out. The quality is excellent and the colors are great if you use the right paper for it.
It's not very heavy and you can mount it in a small table/surface. I don't advise you to print directly on the card because you could get mixed quality results. I always do it from laptop. With Lightroom you can even print directly from it (allthough the result isn't perfect). What I normally do for proofs is open images in RSP, export small jpeg in the proof setting and then use a small program for printing where I choose the color profile of the paper I'm using.
Hope it help's
