Have a laptop with Vista. When typing the cursor jumps back into the sentence. Most of the time back up a line or two and when the O or U key is stroked. Got any ideas what this might be? Or is there a defualt for maybe a short cut keys. I am really stumped on this one.

Mark.

Is it possibly the sensitivity of a touchpad that your hand is grazing over while typing?

Nope, becuase you can just type O and U and it jumps.

Not sure about Vista...but have you checked to see if any of the "Keyboard Properties" in the control panel could solve your problem? Just a guess, mind you! I seem to be having problems of my own lately and it would be nice to solve a problem...even if were someone else's problem. KnowwhatImean?

Maybe there are food crumbs, stray staples, etc. under the keys that could be hindering your ability to type those letters.

Try removing those keys and see what underneath.

Also, try getting a can of compressed air, turn your laptop upside down and while holding it in that position, blowi the air in your keyboard.

O and U are on the top row ... you're having to reach for those. I wouldn't be so quick to conclude from this bit of evidence that it's *not* the touchpad. I've seen the same kind of thing. Always, it's just been me accidentally touching the touchpad while typing.

If you pick your hands up and use just your index finger pointing straight down on the O and U keys ... does the cursor still jump?

Check if you have activated the virtual numpad on your laptop.

U=4 on the numpad, and this is usually the key used for left.
O=6 on the numpad, and this is usually the key used for left.

I can replicate your problem on my HP laptop by pressing down and holding the FN key, hitting NumLock and then u and o will act as left and right arrow keys.
