In this portrait I had to cleanup the background by making it darker... unfortunately, wisps of hair allow the background to be seen through as well. Any tips on how to properly mask this area so I can make the background darker while still keeping the hair light?

My first attempts, even with a soft edge brush have left her looking "fake".

I have a layer mask that I'll be doing this on, FYI -- the darker background is already another layer.

TIA!
Kevin

I am on y phone so adding a link is diffucult.

go to DPC tutorials, look for a Alpha Channels totorial that I put together.
Once you understand how to use these channels, new doors will open for you, especially with fractile images like hair.

Good luck.

I use multiple hits with a clone tool set at about 30% opacity to knock out wisps of hair using surrounding background as a source.

Hi, I think the clone tool is probably your best option - always looking for an easier way myself! Lynn
