I think the shots are nice. I'm sure the family would be extremely happy.
I think the shots would have been just as strong if not stronger in color.
...And I do like B&Ws, so it isn't a bias thing against one or the other. |

Great work, Joe. They're all nicely composed and lighted. Personally I'd bump contrast on them all just a bit, but I'm contrasty! ;)

While I'm not a B&W person ... I think these look good.
While the other comments have suggested greater contrast ... I personally worry about the skin tones going "too white". So I have a differing opinion here. :-)
