Hey all. I'm a newbie. I've been lurking for a while, but decided to jump on in. I'm also a bit new at photography. All of my shots have been with my point-and-shoot HP612 but I just ordered the Minolta A1 and plan on taking some great shots.

I uploaded some of my shots to my portfolio if you'd like to see them.

are my favorites. You have a great eye on what make a composition interesting. The only suggestion is aligning the horizon straight. If not during the taking picture stage then in the post-editing stage. Excellent shots overall.

Thank you. I really appreciate the compliment and the critique. I don't know if you can tell or not, but there are a couple spots in the center of each frame. I tried to use the clone tool in PS on them, but it's difficult sometimes when working on something like the sky.

The sky should be one of the easiest things to clone ... it would certainly be a good thing to practice the technique on. Use a smaller, soft-edged brush, and make many small corrections -- don't try to "paint over" a large area at once; it will look more fake and be much harder to correct if you make a mistake.

I clone onto a new layer (in Photoshop), and use the "sample all layers" option and "aligned" mode almost all the time. If you can get a tablet/stylus combo it becomes even easier.
