It's very easy to write I vote honestly for all of us but it is also hard to digest the images not matching to the contest coming upwards. For example I can see some image which are not complementary colors in front of the images with correct colors. Am I correct?
Earlier I was used to see the images with new & unique concept are coming up but in last few challenges I just see the images following old concept, idea in top ranking. It simply looks like that is no importance of keeping your images unique as per as the latest voting & voters point is concerned.

Also, I would only comment on the once I think worth 7 or more, but the ask us to particularily give comments to bad ones. I don't understand that logic |
The photogs who are scoring 7 or more probably don't need the constructive criticism as much as the photogs you are voting 3 or less. It's just a way to try to help those looking for help. |
I would think this line of thinking would only make sense if someone is voting on technical issues alone perhaps. But then how does one know the intent of the photographer? Maybe the blur is on purpose, or the grain, or the way the shot is lit. If we follow the train of thought mentioned above does that mean people who consistently score well below the coveted 7, a 6...hell,even below a 5...does that mean they patently suck and need tons of "help"? Certainly not. There are MANY photogs here who score alarmingly low on a regular basis who are astoundingly talented. Not all top images are brilliant either, contrary to the plethora of praise that may be heaped upon them via commenting....hardly the case at all.
Don't feel bad about giving a low score, for whatever reason if you feel the shot deserves it. Who cares if it ends up a ribbon winner. I sure don't anymore, I vote the way I want to vote. And don't feel bad about high scores either. I hand out lots of 8 plus scores...a reward for an image well captured. My top twenty usually looks vastly different than the site top twenty.
We all have different tastes with wide and varied backgrounds in photography, the arts, what have you, and this is a good thing. Homogenization is dull. |
Well said, I agree with you. BTW, I like the Blissed a lot, I would voted very high if I was here then.

For a long time I gave out 3's and 4's if the photo actually deserved it but about 8 months ago I decided that I would not give out anything lower than a 5 UNLESS well the challenge is something like green and someone submits a picture of blue or something. I call them Jackass pictures. Other than that it's at least a 5 from me. I only give about 5 10's to the top pictures and 9.999999% the top 5 winners all have my 10's. |

Maybe if you gave out more 10's, you could reach 20.99999%? ;-) |
