| Have you tried running the installation multiple times? I had a similar problem and I think I fixed it by just trying repeatedly a number of times. It was a bit of a PITA though... |

I had the same problem but in my case it was Photoshop that wouldn't install.
This script from Adobe was reasonably simple and it worked for me: //www.adobe.com/support/contact/cs3clean.html
I think if you've ever had a trial version of CS3, especially in the early days, the uninstaller that ships with CS3 doesn't work too well.

I had the same problem as you. I read Kwan's post and looked up the Knowledge Article //www.adobe.com/cfusion/knowledgebase/index.cfm?id=329137 . There I spotted an alternative method involving an Adobe repair tool //www.adobe.com/support/acrobat/ts/documents/329137/Fix_1406ACL.zip recommended as solution 1. It solved my problem in seconds. Recommend everyone to try this before starting tedious editing of the registry values.
