How long should it take to upload a 60mb photo through ftp with a broadband card?
I am submitting some photos for an art contest and the photos have to be uploaded in the next two hours for deadline. I have four photos and each photo is between 46mb and 62mb I have a sprint aircard and when I upload a photo it takes about 4 minutes through an ftp uploader. Is this possible for the photos to complete uploading that fast? When I upload to my own site it takes about an hour I am just worried the photos arn't uploading completly. |

B, G or N?
Most likely G, and maybe not even full speed - it's based on how clear the signal is, so distance, walls,etc matter.
Most upload on broadband can be 384k or even half that, and it BITs, not BYTEs, so it's 1/8 that in reality.
20 to 30 minutes is what I calculate it to be, at the outside. Should be faster.
Assuming everyone else isn't doing the same thing as you and overloading the server at the contest site.

I think he's talking about over a cellular network, which I don't think have very highspeed uplinks at all.
Might want to go plop down in a Starbucks.

You're missing his point; they are "uploading" VERY fast and he is worried they are not going through right. +/- 50 Mb, around 4 mins to upload, it seems too food to be true to him...

| //kccrossroads.org/harrahs/index.html Well I just downsized the photos and resubmitted them. Had a few minutes to spare. Wish me luck. The Director of advertising for Harrah̢۪s took me on a tour through the casino yesterday so I could take some shots for the contest. I have only had a few hours sleep since Wednesday night. I guess they only have about 25 participants and I uploaded four photos myself. If I win I'm buying a Mac Pro and I'm throwing this damm laptop out the window. |
