since my almost 10 years old 15" Nokia Tft has been a pain in my a$$ for too long now i'm looking for a reliable, but affordable (<400$) new monitor, that is well suitable for post processing.
on my research i found that TN-panel monitors are cheap, but have bad black/white balance and colors and have a really small viewing angle (which is also a huuuge pain on my current monitor).so i read that the PVA/MVA-panel ones are much better but also more expensive. IPS-panel monitors such as most of the EIZO's are best, but out of my price range.
i came across the ViewSonic VP930, that has the older MVA panel, but it always scored well in tests and such and it only costs about 300-350€ here in germany.
i know fir3bird has one and is satisfied with it but I'd just like some more input or reviews/opinions on other options i might have missed...
thanks in advance!!! :) |

There are only a handful of panel manufacturers (LG.Philips, Fujitsu, Samsung) who supply the TFT panels for all the other display manufacturers. For example, the Apple Cinema 20" display actually contains a 20"WS LG.Philips S-IPS panel.
So, if you have a model in mind, the easiest way to check which panel it contains is to lookup an online database like this one
That ViewSonic VP930, for example, has the 19" AU Optronics P-MVA (M190EG01 V0) panel. The following models contain the exact same panel;
Acer AL1923
Belinea 1980S1
Philips 190P7EG
Philips 190P7ES/00
BenQ FP93G
HP LP1965
So, shop around! :) |
