Hey guys, tomorrow I am going to meet up with a photog that is selling her Canon 24-70 2.8L for $850 (Canadian dollars). Is this a good deal that I should jump on or should I stay away?

Assuming it's in good working condition, it sounds like a steal to me!

stay away!!!!

and direct them towards New Tripoli PA with a 20 dollar bill and a warm jacket...

oh and make sure they bring the lens.. :)

So that's about 853 US bucks.

Sounds like a good deal, judging by the prices from eBay and other sites.

Maybe you can get away with a little negotiation ;)

Her price is listed as $950 but she told me tonight that she'd go for $850. I made a ridiculous offer for $700 just to see... :-)

Yaaaaayyyyy!!! I got my very first "L"... I am so happy! :-)

Now... Do you guys think that $800 (asking price) for a slightly used 30D is fair or too much?

Nice congrats!

Canon 30D on eBay at Buy it now for $700

Another 30D on eBay with 15 hours to go but so far at a low price

With the 30D, you are the judge of that. Check the internet, eBay, craigslist etc... Perhaps you can tell the person selling the 30D if he or she would consider a price match.

Just don't fall for those fraud sites ;)

here's one from Fred Miranda. there are always loads of 30D's up for sale. a little more trustworthy than e-bay! they do a good job of self-policing.
