Last year during the initial Wii and PS3 frenzy, I got one by going to Target, which had them for sale every Sunday AM. Showed up about an hour before opening, they gave out tickets about half an hour before opening. No idea if that is still the case this year, but you might ask the gaming counter personnel at your local Target. Good luck! |

How about a pony instead? They're usually easy to find :-)

I just called our local Fred Meyers, turns out they had 30 yesterday and they were gone in 4 hours. :( But they get their shipments in on Sunday, Wednesday & Fridays so I'll try giving them a call on pn those days to see if they've gotten anymore in. I hope you find one. :) |

Too cold to be riding ponys in December and January in the Pittsburgh area, unlike where you live. Much better to get a pony game for the Wii, substantially reduces the chance of frostbite. |

The Wii won't poop on the floor and eat the drapes. |

My son might consider selling his if you decide used was alright. I know for a fact that he's only played it a handful of times and it's in like new condition. He has an X-Box 360 and a PS3 that he likes much better. I can assure you that it is in good condition because he buys all his game stuff himself and pays cash. I have to be supervised to use them! ;-) PM me if you're interested and I'll run it by him! |

It's pretty shocking how under-stocked everyone is! My little bro stood in line for hours and hours when they were first released, but he's decided he doesn't want it anymore. He was going to sell it to a coworker of mine but they just happened to find them at Target this weekend!
From my experience, a lot of employees aren't allowed to purchase consoles during their own shift, and sometimes they aren't allowed to use their discount! It's wild times.
Good luck out there! |

Billy, you're a holiday hero! I'm gonna lock the thread because it looks like my quest has ended (after probably a few hundred miles -- literally -- of driving back and forth to local stores...).
This is another testament about how cool the DPC community is. Many thanks to others who sent me PMs along the way, and for those who added some tips in the thread -- I am very grateful for everyone's help, and am already looking forward to seeing the look on my daughter's face in a few short weeks! (I'll post pictures :)
-- Alan
EDIT: I'm unlocking the thread because Rex was hoping for help in getting one, too.

Thank you Alan. Jen has emailed me that she will keep trying but I will do the same if anyone can find me one. Although my kids have not asked for one I thought we could have fun with it and it would be a great Christmas present for them.
Edit to add: I have the same idea as Alan. I have no need for the $600 bundle. I want to buy the accesories I want.

As I told Alan, if I find one, it's mine, if I find two, one's mine and the other's yours.
(And, no, I won't mark it up to make a profit.) |

I got the bundle...it come with some things and you could choose from a list of of accessories. I know from past game console experiences you need more than just the basic console.
I came with a second controller (you're gonna need that), the second half of the controller (for both controllers). You're gonna need or want that reallllly badly anyway). I think those 3 items are $60-80 total.
I got the recharging station and batts. I KNOW I'll need that. :D I think I also got a bigger/better/additional receiver bar. DOn't know if I'll need that.
I Got 4 games with the bundle- you're gonna need games. There were something like 30 or 40 to choose from so it's not like it was forcing me to buy games i don't want. I have heard there are bundles out there where you get no choices though, and that would have annoyed me.
And I bought one more game - it wasn't on the list of ones to choose from, but with my son's birthday being Dec 27th it was an easy choice just to make this a B'day gift.
The bundle maybe saved me $20 or 40, if that, and since i had to pay shipping i saved nothing. But at least I have one.

My husband bought his months and months ago, even then it took him a long time to locate one. The day after Thanksgiving my husband and I went to a Game Stop and a lady came in pleading for a Wii, one of the workers told her they were sold out and she just about broke down in tears, another worker went in the back and came back out with a Wii and gave it to her...so they all probably have 1 or 2 "stashed". Anyway, I aked them and they said that here in Colorado they get their shipments on Monday mornings, they are very friendly here. Mondays are my days off, so if I get a chance to go, I will check Monday morning to see if they have one. |

The standard wii in the box only comes with one controller+nunchuck. We bought an additional controller so we could play 2-player games of tennis etc. |

Mark ups on hardware is not high enough so the store would lose money on each hardware sales. The software is a different story with a good markup price, thus the bundling. |

Yeah... that's part of the reason I won't shop at Game Stop or EB anymore. :/ |

Well, here I am, perfectly willing to camp out at a store somewhere if I knew I could get a Wii for my daughter. For the first time in her 9 years, she has picked the one rather unobtainable gift, and that's about the only thing she asked Santa for (she's still a "believer," probably for the last time).

I think they are easily available in japan. Last sunday when I was drooling over A700, saw Wii was put int the same shop quitely. People walking around it and nobody seems to care. It did remind me of your post. If there was anyway to get it from here. I do not even know if someone coming there.
