I am planning on getting a camcorder here I got 500 bucks to spend. Was looking at the Sony Handycam DCR-SR42 Hard Disk Camcorder. After reading some reviews it dosen't seem like a good camera. Anyone have this camera or know of a better one.

I purchased the Panasonic PV-GS320. It is under $500 and is a 3 CCD camcorder. It uses the mini-dv tapes. I've had no complaints---the colors are crisp and vibrant. It is easy to use and fits in my hand wonderfully. I've owned several camcorders, and this one gets very good reviews and I would highly recommend it to you.

I just bought the Panasonic SDR-H18 from Circuit City for $350 ($50 less than BB, $100 less than Amazon or anywhere else). It has a 30GB HDD and shoots in 16:9 HQ mode (but not HD). Best price on a HDD camcorder I've seen, which was a must for us because my wife and kids want to be able to just pick it up and shoot without worrying about tapes or recording over something else.

I just purchased the Panasonic PV-GS320 and the software isn't compatible with vista, any ideas?
