Well I know I said I avoid this shopping stuff. But after Best Buy threw out that laptop deal today and we are buying our oldest a laptop this year I will have to venture out to Best Buy in the morning.
My question to all DPCers becasue this is the first time I will be doing this when is a good time to be there? Best Buy opens at 5am. Is getting there at 4am good enough?

Best Buy said to get there at 3 am, you must have a ticket in your hand to get one of those laptops. We have heard that the stores will only have 15 of them. Good Luck! |

Leave now. Seriously. I've heard that people start lining up at midnight and only those in front of the line get tickets for the good stuff. |

OUr best Buy has tents and sleeping bags spread from the entrance along the front and the entire length of one side wall.
I recommend bribing someone at 2 a.m. with a hot chocolate so they will share their space in line, or perhaps even a sleeping bag. :P

My personal rant... (with apologies) It seams rather pathetic to camp all day thanksgiving day and night just to be first in the store. At least it's not friggin cold here. About 35F tonight.
But enought of my vitriole. ;) |

Well I came to my senses last minute and just slept. I'll pay the extra to not have to deal with the crowd.

I'm with you, big guy. Hate crowds - for years now, most of my holiday shopping has been done online. :P

The local Kmart had a Thanksgiving day sale on Wii's (not really "sale" since they were regular price). Anyway, they opened at 7am and my wife got there before 6:30 and there were already 50-60 people in line and the Wii consoles were already gone to the first 21 people.
I have seen them going on Ebay for $350-$400, but I'm not that desperate....yet. |
