At least I think it's the cold weather, but not sure. At times it won't turn off, won't take a picture, doesn't register pictures on my card (reads "E" when there are already pictures on the card), once had a readout of "CHA" in the eyepiece and on the lcd readout whan bahaving as above. Sometimes when I remove the battery and replace it these symtoms will disappear, but not always. Then, later, it will act perfectly normally. This has been going on for about two weeks. Anyone else have similar problems? It's about 18 months and 25k pics old.

I had a D70 that wouldn't turn off. I sent it to Nikon and they fixed it at no charge. It was out of warrantee, too.

hmm my old Nikon 4300 P&S did that a couple of years ago. Here in NYC like 3 or 4 years ago we had a really bad winter, I remeber because the river underneath the Bklyn bridge was freezing in some parts with big chunks of ice, lol and I tracked out on the pier freezing with the wind and all taking pictures with my little Nikon back then and it would not come on, battery was full too, so after a couple of on and offs it finally came on and the lens actually hesitated a bit to zoom out. Once I got home and in the warm house it was working just fine.
