I'd put money on it being either the graphics card or sound card (card or driver) causing the problem.

I had a similar problem a few months back, got a BSOD whenever I tried to boot the PC. Due to my varsity workload I didn't have time to fix it properly. I went into the BIOS and disabled pretty much everything that wasn't essential. It took care of the problem temporarily, but made the PC run slower. Now that the I'm done with varsity I need to get the PC back up to speed.

Thanks, I'll look into that. My guess is a driver since the memtest didn't show anything. I'll try to click on more information next time it happens. I'm guessing drivers don't get logged in the event log?
