Hey Guys!

Some of you may remember me from a while back. I haven't been very active in the threads or with DPC altogether. All is great in my life right now...found the girl of my dreams when I was in college and now we are finally getting married!!

I once helped someone out on DPC who's son was getting married in Monterey, CA (where I went to school). For a couple hundred bucks and a free dinner I figured I would broaden my experience as an amateur photographer. It was a great experience...I had a blast!

Now I'm reaching out to you...DPCers....I'm looking for someone who has shot as least a couple weddings and has there work available available for viewing. We're on a budget, but of course we will compensate based on experience. We will be getting married on june 28th, 2008 at the Airtel Plaza Hotel in Van Nuys (West Los Angeles).

Any interest out there? Any recommendations?

Thanks in advance and I look forward to hearing from you guys.

If ya want to check them out, some of my work is available at //www.leroydickson.net . I know I'm not close, but I really like to travel and I've not been to LA :-)

Either way, CONGRATS!

100% Genuine offer.

If you pay for Alexsaberi and I to come out to LA we will do the whole day for free. Just feed us and put us up somewhere (we'll happily crash with your friends or family), and I'll do you Graphistudio Albums at cost price.

Also, if we came out a few days early then we could do a pre-wedding shoot as well.

To be honest this would probably work out cheaper than getting someone local to LA.

That's 16 blue ribbons working for transportation/food/lodging. Such a deal! Downside: transportation is from LONDON.

Also, he hasn't seen how much I can eat :-)

Seriously though, if you book in advance you can get a return trip to LAX from LHR for around £225

Wow, thanks for the fast replies! I'll have to discuss all of the options with my fiance. Two flights from London may be end up costing more than a great photographer from LA. You have some amazing shots though!

Let me check on London -> LAX pricing.

Any other photographers from California that might be interested?

Best,
Chris Anderson

I am sure that if you get the parents to put a few quid (bucks) in you could manage it. :-)

Anyway, its a serious offer if you are interested.

I can undercut those two easily. I'll do it for the cost of the rowing-boat hire. It will only take me a couple of years to row there from Southampton, I'm sure.

He's offering two shooters, both REALLY talented, for about $460 apiece in airfare. If you can find them a place to crash (which they are willing to accept), then even including food you can get these guys for what, $1,200 or so? And factor in that they will deliver the prints at COST, no markup, which is a HUGE savings, and I don't see any way you beat this deal going the normal hiring route.

Of course, you may be able to find a local DPCer who is willing to beat that price, but think of the cachet associated with importing a pair of high-end British photographers :-)

The cheque is in the post Rob!

But as Rob says, Prints or Graphistudio (or Asuka if you must) albums or DVD with all images at no cost.. As Saberi said to me earlier "I always love an adventure"..

It's tempting to get re-married just at the prospect of having the likes of Mark & Alex try to make me look good in photos. :-)

Just what I was thinking :-) All I need to do is find a 50-60Something, single woman who will love me for myself alone, and has the funds to make this happen...

What's the hurry to work for free? Why won't school teachers and UAW members do it? LOL

I just said I'd do it for free, I made no promises about quality or speed, only that I'd do it...eventually.
