I have had a Logitech optical scroll mouse for about 2 years and all of a sudden I can't click on things anymore. So, I figure it is broken, go to Walmart buy another and hook it up.
My suspicions are confirmed (so, I thought) and I threw the old mouse out. Now today, the new logitech scroll mouse is refusing to click. However, this time, I tried something. I tried switching (in control panel) the left and right buttons. With them switched, I can "left click" with the right button. Hardware issue, I think. So, I connect it to another computer. No left click there either. So, I'm pretty sure it's a hardware problem, but two mice in a little under a week?
I've got a tablet, but I really like a wheel mouse for general PC use. Anyone else having issues with Logitech mice or am I just really unfortunate?

Unplug it from the usb port and plug it into another one.
If still not working try,
Uninstalling it from the control panel and reboot. plug it back in and it should pick it back up.

I've tried it on all 5 ports and on another puter (running XP instead of Vista), definitely a hardware issue.

Try updating the driver on the mouse.
>Control pannel
>Mouse
>Hardware tab
>Properities
>Driver Tab
>Update Driver
If that doesn't work try doing a windows update to make sure that you have and are running all the new drivers and such.

I sent you an email to your yahoo account with the following files
mouclass.sys
mouhid.sys
place them under the following folder, C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers
let it over right the old ones.
Reboot and try again.
let me know if you didn't get them. I will have to rename them and send them to you again. |

Its the new DPC integrated forum filtering tool. I guess you didnt get the e-mail to confirm your Beta testing it for the rest of us? It keeps you from clicking on posts and making responses that might get you in trouble. :D

Even with the mouse on mine I cant use it for everyday use. I barely use it for editing anymore. But when I need the pen I like having it. Otherwise I use a dual scroll optical.

I don't like it that much... :-) It's fine for PS work, but not so much for browsing the web. I hate the notebook's built in trackpad too... I love a wheel mouse.

Might very well just be a bad mouse, I'm sure it's not that uncommon to get a bad one. I'd take it back but instead of getting another optical, I'd suggest upgrading to a laser mouse. I have a Logitech G5, and it's great. You can change the sensitivity of the mouse on the fly and can alter the weight to your liking. Great deal for about $40.
As far as the drivers go, I would have said the same thing if he hadn't tried to use the mouse on another PC beforehand. But since he did try that, I don't think drivers are an issue...probably just grabbed a bad one.

Seeing that both my touchpad and tablet are functioning properly, I think I'll refraim from messing with drivers too much, but thanks.
I'm pretty sure it's a broken mouse, since it won't work on a second computer.

My Microsoft wireless one quit working a while back and I couldn't get it to work for nothing or figure out why it all of the sudden quit. The opitical eye seemed to be working. I piddled with it for a few hours and then just assumed it died from old age and over use. I went to get a new one and couldn't talk myself into spending the money on a new one. After I got home I just happened to look at it again and noticed a tiny little reset buttom on the back. I pushed and I'll be damned it worked again.

darn, can't find a reset button on the logitech mouse. I did however, get it to make a click by repeatedly clicking really fast and hard. So, I'm guessing bad contact.
I don't have the box, but might try to take it back to Wally World tomorrow with the receipt.

The button you found was the reconnect button. Since Leroy's mouse is wired, he won't have one. I absolutely hated those Microsoft wireless mice. The only thing worse was the wireless keyboard.

It started workin today (after pounding on it a bit), but requires a heavy finger to get it to click. Definitely a contact issue.
I picked up a cheap GE wireless optical mini mouse today. Not a bad little mouse. I kinda like it, if I can get used to its smaller size. |
