I just read about this little gadget, I'm not sure how much control you get over where your files go though.
linky
Fixed link.

So with this, do I have to have a different converter for each card? What are the speeds really like? How can I control where my files actually go? Is it worth the extra money to not have a cable? My computer has a drive bay filled with a memory card reader, so I don't think I would buy this gadget, I already don't have to worry about cables, just take the card out and stick it in and I'm ready to go. But I can see how some people might like it. The guy that told me about it uses picasa web a lot, so he likes the idea of just walking by his computer and his new files load up to picasa for him. At least this is a step in a new direction, I'm interested to see what other products come out of this.

//www.eye.fi/ is the manufacturer's site.
It transfers ONLY JPG files, not RAW.
It uses your regular home wifi network
indoor range is 45', outdoor 90' (so they site says)
It will move the files to the computer as you shoot over the network. TO do this otherwise you need one of the few network-ready P&S cameras or one of the expnensive adapters (canon's wireless adapter for their SLRs is $1000).
On another forum there is a thread about this by a beta tester of the gadget. It works.

I did notice that it only supports jpg, I forgot to mention that as one of the drawbacks. But it doesn't transfer as you shoot, it transfers whenever your camera gets in range of your computer, and your camera is idle.

| The eye-fi must have just come out. A coworker, knowing I am into photography, sent me a link to it on Friday, then I just heard about it on Leo Laporte's Tech Guy podcast on the way into work this morning. |

Never heard of one, but would love to have one.
I use a super long usb cable when shooting with a laptop. I think mine is twenty feet long or so.
