Canon EF-S 17-55mm f/2.8 IS USM

I shot my first wedding today for the sister-in-law of a friend. They were very appreciative, but I don't think they understood how happy I was that they asked me to do it! (Of course, I didn't charge. . . I had no idea what I was doing!) I went in with my D80 and a friend using a borrowed D70, both with hotshoe mounted SB-600's. Overall, I am pretty happy with the results, but it remains to be seen how the happy couple feels. Here are a couple of the cake cutting. Any advice on the editing?

Dumb as this may sound, I'm against "filling" that in.

Granted, more likely than not, it's a simple balding spot, and that's that. But let's say, for example, a day before the wedding he fell riding a bike or something, and wound up with a wound on his head. The fact that he had a noticeable bald spot as a result could actually be part of the "story" that led up to their wedding day... something that they could be reminded of (and would likely find amusing to tell as a story) in years to come by looking at the pictures.

I know that's a reasonably far-fetched scenerio, but I'd be very careful about tinkering with the reality of a shot. If it was a facial zit or something, then yeah, it's probably a good idea to clone it out, but I'd be very careful messing with anything that could have been a part of their overall story. Ya just never know...

Alan, I tend to agree with you in that respect. While that's an unlikely story, I think it should be an image of them as they were. On the other hand, I did take some liberties with the editing. For the record, here is the shot with just a crop, resize and USM.
