		| | Had a stock session today. I used that model that bitches a lot, but she's cheap.
Its difficult to be set designer, wardrobe department, hair, makeup, food stylist, model and photographer all at once. I rearranged my kitchen first keeping in mind the angles I planned to shoot and everything that would be seen in the shot. The cabinet behind me with the stacked dishes, for example.... that's where my microwave belongs but I knew a microwave wouldn't be very attractive so I put the dishes there instead.

The dough is a whole can of ready-made biscuit dough (I am not a chef) and the salad was dumped right out of a bag :D

I started with 2 strobes and a 5' reflector but had one of the strobes lighting the cabinets behind me at first. I realized it looked a bit too moody for a kitchen & moved that light to above and a little in front of me. The flatter light seems more appropriate for the situation.

In all I shot about 80 images in just over two hours - 60 of which are keepers. Not bad for a bit of effort, I think. Would love your thoughts.

		| | nice shots. I did a kitchen shoot not long ago, and it is a bit difficult getting everything balance and having it still look like a kitchen :) I have also found self portraits for stock quite challenge, so well done.

		| | Self portraits definetely seem like a challenge. Especially for stock. As usual, it appears that you excel at challenges. :) My bet would be on 7496 doing best out of the ones posted. Some of the shadows in the first few might be an issue on some of the sites. |

I agree. The shots with the background lit up brighter look a little more "stock-ish" to me, but they all look really good. If you wanted to increase the mess factor a bit, you could have thrown flour on yourself and given a frazzled-cooking-for-a-ton-of-people-for-the-holidays look, which would surely sell well. The extra cleanup wouldn't have been a problem, since you can't sit still anyway. :) I have yet to put myself in front of the camera for a stock shoot, as I'm afraid they wouldn't sell!!

I wanted to do the holiday cooking theme, but didn't want to buy that many ingredients and make that much mess. Perhaps next week when I have a few days off and will be cooking anyway. "Yeah, guys, we'll eat soon, I just have to photograph this gravy one more time...." lol

I liked that one, too. I think because of the OOF bkg and the casual feel. I liked 7485 all except for the veggies distracting right behind the biscuits.

The only other thing I have is watch out of the bkg - the oven hood was at times sticking out of your head, but usually not too distracting.

Still, you can take my critiques when I actually make a sale. =D

 Wannabe stock photog,
 -Jeff

		| | Cindi, you are sexy when you cook. These might replace those semi-nudes as the sexiest shots of you :-)
In the words of the great Eric Cartman, "Get your %$# in the kitchen and cook me some pie!"
