A student at my unversity got a grant to put on an art festival in the spring and has asked me to do a photography workshop. This would most likely be for people who don't really know much or anything about photography. she suggested the topics of "great photograph, and how to take a picture that aesthetically pleasing...
without giving all of your secrets away."
Does anyone have any suggestions on how to run such a workshop? Would you use a power point presentation or just get up and talk or what? I have never been to or given a workshop before, and since she has asked me MONTHS in advance I think it could be a fun and interesting new thing to tackle.
The main questions I have are,
What are workshops normally like?
How would I make it accessible to people who don't really do photography but also to people who do know a lot about photography already at the same time?
What kind of information should I include?

I think it would be hard to discuss photography w/o photos :-) So yes, a PowerPoint presentation might be called for.

| Could probably just cover the basic compositional guidelines and give a few brief tips on photoshop editing. You don't say how long the workshop is, but I imagine those two topics would help most anyone create 'great' or at least better photos. |

Take a look at two links on  DrAchoo's profile about 5 tips and 5 advanced tips to better photos. Might help with your brainstorming.

| should probably come up with at least 2 ideas ---1 very simple--maby p&s type and 1 a little more adv. dslr type to be able to match your groups needs |
