Haha... woot!

I submitted my Fitness blue ribboner to JPG Mag for their Gravity Powered theme, and I just got an email letting me know that my image will be published in their next issue! It's only 100 bucks, but its better than nothing.

On a negative note... I've seen several other photogs version of that shot in various snowboard mags so far this season, and no offense to JPG... but I would've much preferred to have the shot run in Transworld or Snowboarder. Unfortunately, I shot this one in jpeg, and no snowboard mag photo ed is willing to accept jpeg submissions, DNG is the industry standard. Ah well, I know better now, and have a good crew of riders that are willing to work hard and go big this season!

On a positive note... Whistler opens this weekend!!! Heres to another good snow year, and a successful year for me shooting snowsports!

Great image.

I snowboarded in Whistler last December and loved it.

Question for ya...did you ski/snowboard with your K10D? Or did you just bring it up there for the shot(s), then put it back in your car/locker?

Last December was pretty probably the best snow of the season, you picked a good time to come up! If any DPCer are making the trip this year, drop me a line (if you think you can keep up, that is! no slowboarders allowed, hehe)

Last season, I had my camera with me all day, everyday (more or less).

This year, I have alot less interest in shooting in the terrain park, or on less than optimal days, so I'll probably be leaving it behind more often.

That said, I shred pretty hard with my camera with me. Its in a backpack and a lowepro case so its really well protected, and the camera itself is pretty bulletproof. I've taken some good spills with it on powder days, but I've never bailed hard on my backpack on packed snow. I guess I'm just that good ;-)

I'm going to be picking up a Dakine Sequence bag this year though, to fit my upgraded kit when I get it (need something to hold my buddy's 70-200 2.8, and be sturdy enough that he doesn't worry when he lends it to me). Snowtogs swear by that bag, I've tried it in the store and would definitely recommend it for anyone whose main lens is a 70-200.

Congrats!

How many views/yeahs did you get? I've been submitting for some time now, and no matter how many I get, I haven't gotten in yet.

175 Views, 31 Yeahs, 9 Favorites, but only 2 Props and one comment.

I don't actually think that has much to do with it though.
