Is there a way to calibrate your monitor in Vista? I cannot find the Adobe Gamma and I have no money at the moment to buy a Huey or Spyder2. I like my laptop to be bright, but I am losing definition in the lighter colors...

I'm not sure, I actually just ordered a system with Vista, but it won't be here for a few weeks. I can say that I tried using adobe gamma on my xp system and it wasn't a pleasant experience. The colors just got worse not better. One thing you can do is just play with the contrast/brightness on your monitor menu. I have also heard that gamma is pretty much worthless on an LCD monitor, so if you aren't using a CRT monitor it probably isn't worth trying anyway. I'll look and see if I can find out anything else.

Looks like it is still in the control panel just like it was in XP.

Go here and download QuickGamma. It's free, and will do a good job setting gamma. But before you run QuickGamma, make sure that your black point is set properly. Try this page for a lengthy but very good overview on monitor calibration, including setting black point & gamma.
