I'm not sure about this guy but my grandmother always used to say
"One must always expect the unexpected"
surely this guy is prepared.

Well, he's at a golf tournament, it looks like. So he doesn't have the luxury of a gear bag behind him in a defined shooting position, like at a baseball game, say. In general, in sports photography, stopping to switch lenses isn't a very useful option either. Golf, especially, requires a really large range of lenses, it covers a lot of ground. And for all I know it's not all digital equipment, either; may be film bodies there too.

The stickers? I donno. You see them a lot on big lenses at big events. Maybe someone PAYS them to put the stickers on? Anyone know?

Aw, c'mon. You'd wear 'em too if you spent all day hiking around, and shooting from your knees. Which shooters at golf tournaments are required to do around the greens, so as not to block spectator views.

On a nice soft golf course? Ofcourse, it could save on the cleaning bill from less grass stains.

Sheesh...looks like someone's over-compensating to me. :P

How can he even move? Seems like you'd miss more shots fighting with the equipment than gain shots by having anything and everything.

Wouldn't you just get a little golf-cart and modify it to hold cameras instead of clubs? Or maybe he does it for the exercise. :)

Actually, how many photogs do you know who mix brands? There are a few Nikon neckstraps, but the big white lenses I would assume are Canon. I'd say he's playing caddy for at least one other photog, possibly more.

I had my car photographed once for a UK magazine. The photographer had loads of stickers over his kit. he gave me two reasons for all the stickers:

1 - It helps make the kit look unique and a bit "Older" and therefore less attractive to thieves.

2 - It helped make things like lens hoods stand out if you took them off and set them down on rocks for example. Helps you find them and stops you stepping on them!

Everything I see there is fairly practical. I would imagine that I would include a bit of something on the end of the monopod stand for the really big lens on his shoulder, but maybe that's in the bag.

I've often thought of buying a cheap second digital body (like a D70 or something) and putting a lens I know is good on it to take advantage of: A, a good deal on a second hand lens, or B, just having the freedom to have the second body. I wouldn't care what brand the body was compared to my main body if the money was right.

Considering the price of some of the excellent high quality film bodies, it wouldn't be a bad idea for someone used to film either.

I see no umbrella......I hope he's got a poncho in that mess somewhere.

As long as it takes to play 18 holes of golf, it's reasonable to expect that rain is a possibility.

That'd be expensive!

Just think about what he has to do to use the bathroom
