I know, I know, i've ranted about vignettes before. I was even dq'ed by enhancing a vignette in basic.

This time is different.

The top half of my image (the dealine is tonight, for topless) has vignette. It's not pure white like the rest of my background. It was caused because my lens is not great at the wide end.

Would I be able to REMOVE this vignette using the vignette slider in raw. It wouldn't be "adding an extra feature", because it would not be adding anything at all. I think it's legal because of the "image integrity" clause, but I want to ask in advance. No more DQ's for me!

You should send in a ticket to get a consensus on this one. I personally feel that it falls within the "preserve integrity" clause, but that's just one opinion.

Yeah maybe this is one of those ticket times. So i'll send in the image without any vignette reduction, should I send in the reduced image as well?

We'll request it if needed... that avoids you having to submit two tickets, since the system won't take multiple attachments the first time (but will on a response).
You could also zip them and upload that if you want to submit both. Your choice.

I don't have much time left to wait for a response- I have an important dinner engagement and by the time i'll be back, the deadline will be past.

I really don't wanna miss this challenge. Can I go with my instinct and submit, and if for some wacky reason it's violated the rules (due to that vignette thing), can I get it removed without penalty?

Just if the violation concerns the vignette- if it's voilated some date/time thing, I don't expect to get off penalty free.

Lanndon,

I've just sent you a reply.

For future reference, please keep in mind that borderline cases take time to review and discuss. Ideally, we ask for 48 hours to give you an authoritative ruling. We'll do the best we can when less time is available, but the less time we have, the more uncertain our answer will be. In this case, with less than 4 hours to work with, we were only able to get 2 opinions, so the reply I sent you is somewhat uncertain, as noted in the reply.

Any decision to enter the image is at your own risk.

Yes, I fully understand I was working on a tight deadline.

Thanks for your advice, and I have made revisions based on your opinions.
