Well the lure of the 1DMKIII has got me. I placed an order and recieved it last thursday evening. I left on a family trip and had some time to play with the camera, trying to learn the new configuration before having to do it on the fly on assigmnet. Let me say that this is one amazing camera. I am most impressed by the high ISO noise control. Here are 2 unprocessed files 100% crops one at 2500ISO the other at 6400ISO.
[thumb]611572[/thumb] [thumb]611571[/thumb] I printed the 6400 file at 8x10 and its very usable, no complaints here. And oh yeah, I got a serial number outside the Alservo concerned ones, so I am very happy.

Yeah, I do a lot of images at ISO 3200 now, something I used to avoid unless absolutely necessary.
With the 20D I would use ISO 800 and only go to 1600 if I had to, and the 5D I've been happy with ISO 1600 output. But the Mark III is impressive even at ISO 3200.
How do you like the new menuing system? I love it. Especially if you create your own personalized menu with your most frequently changed settings on it.
Enjoy the new camera... it's a heckuva machine!

Actually I'm so used to the 1D and 1DMKIIn with double buttons and holding the buttons down, I tend to really screw things up. After this weekend I'm getting better at not pushing the wrong button or combinations. I'm also going to give the high ISO a real test tomorrow night. HS football likely in the rain so no flash. My flash is weather sealed and so is the body, but I dont like to put them out there if I dont have to. And with very usable 6400 ISO I wont be scared to push it to the limit and see how it goes.
