I spent the afternoon playing with my new lens! I got it about a week ago, and only today got the opportunity to go do something with it! I was excited! I was pumped up! I was a little worried that I would be the only one this excited about it! (No worries. That feeling only lasted until I actually got there and realized that I was the only one excited about it.)
Still, I was determined to get some great shots of a spectacular sporting event! (The realization that there was not going to be a spectacular sporting event came later.) Still, I persevered! I got out there on the sidelines of the un-mown field and watched a group of the most athletic middle age, sedentary men I have ever had the privilege of shooting, play a game of flag football!
(You excited about this yet?)
Ok. Seriously. I have a new respect for the people that are able to do this kind of photography. Following the game, following the ball, following the key players. . . . Not easy. I think I have a very steep learning curve if this is something I actually want to get good at.
Still, it was a fun time (and the shrimp boil going on in the background made it worth it!) and I hope to get better at this type of photography. Here are a few of the better shots I got today, and the really good news is that everyone had a good time.

I really enjoyed seeing that shutter speed of 2000 on my display, too! |
