Well folks....last Saturday I had my 40th Birthday Party. Ricco and Mick also celebrated their 40th Birthday at the same time...so it became a 120th birthday party. I don't actually turn 40 till next week...so I actually get to celebrate it twice.

We kicked off the night with lots of friends, alcohol, music, swimming pool and a hungi. I am normally a Cadbury girl (glass and a half and I am drunk), so a couple of the guests were on a mission to make me very drunk. And I did...but I am a happy drunk and I don't suffer from hangovers. So most of these photos I am past the stage of sober...so I do apologize.

I thoroughly enjoyed the night....swimming heaps (as well as getting bruised from hitting the side of the pool when I got thrown in by one of the guests!). We had loads of hay bales under the marquee for the guests to sit on. I had fun jumping over them during the night and I was very proud that I didn't spill my drinks...lmao!!

So anyways...here are some photos of the night. Most of these photos were taken by fellow DPC'er Crafty. I prepped them for the web so I uploaded them to my portfolio...but have added Crafty's copyright to them. So thanks Crafty! Ricco did take one photo of us 4 DPC'ers...so thanks Ricco!

Happy birthday!!

what's a hungi? it looks great!
looks like something the do in the bush to cook meat on a layer of burning coal and then burrying it for a couple of hours.

Hangi actually refers to the method of cooking in the ground with hot stones, or to the underground oven so created, and to the food so cooked.

When you're asked to a hangi, you're actually being invited to a feast of Maori food cooked in the manner described. Various types of meats and vegetables, such as kumara or sweet potato, are wrapped in leaves or, in an acquiescence to modernity, aluminium foil. These items of wrapped food are then placed in a hole in the ground and cooked with hot stones.

Happy Birthday, you are truly a beauty at 40 as you will be at 50.

Who is the lucky artist that gave you that tatoo?

God I miss a good Hangi.... I had a Samoan friend in Uni that had Hangi's off the scale with the closest 100 family & friends :-) Was always a great event and the food is amazing (although better to miss some of the prep if you care what some of it is :-).

The kids crashed fairly early....I crashed on the loungeroom floor about 4-30am for about an hour. There were still adults in the pool at that hour lol! Cameras were not in circulation by that stage...!
