Just got a call from the Association for Mineral Exploration BC; one of my photos is going to be used on the cover of their winter 2008 issue!
This is the original photo:
Apparently they moved the sun closer to the prospector in photoshop to make it work in portrait mode... :-P
Unfortunately, I don't get anything out of it but a credit since the photo was an entry in their annual contest, but they don't decide on that til december... I'm pretty sure my chances of winning are quite good, so maybe I'll get some money out of it yet.
I'll be sure to post a photo of the cover when the issue finally comes out.

Whaddayamean no money?! :P J/K
That's great! Good luck on winning the overall contest. I'd say you've got a pretty good lead if they want to use it for the cover. |

Don't people get fired for doing stuff like that and implying it's a real photo?
Congrats, BTW.

If they work for a newspaper, sure... the AMEBC winter issue isn't exactly looked to as a bastion of journalistic integrity. The sun would be where they moved it to in 2 hours, anyways.

Just got the issue today, I have two photos; the cover, and a 2/3 page in the mag!
Even though I wasn't paid for the photos themselves, each won me $100 bucks in their annual photo contest (won the best scenic and health and safety categories) as I suspected they would (wouldnt have given photos away if I wasn't pretty sure Id win :-P)
And, the photos (i think taking photos of my photos may have thrown the color off a bit... oh well!):
Now, just have to wait for my jpg mag to arrive, and itll be thrice published this month!
