I've been here for a while, but have only entered two contests (the first how-ever not being a full attempt attempt).

I was lacking a few things in my picture and I did not expect to do extremly well (especially since I'm a noob). BUT, because of this, I was really hoping to get some feedback. I know I got some good feedback which is great, but they love my picture for the same reasons as I do... I was really hoping for some more negitive, or I should say constructive remarks as to what it would take for me to make my picture better.

Now I don't expect many comments from the heart of my voting block (5-7). But I maybe wrongfully expect at least a little comment from someone who gives me a 3 and especially someone (cough**troll**) who gives me a 1 or a 2.

I got a little info from some commentors, and I learned a lot from going through and scoring, but I honestly don't have a clue why I got so many 3s & 4s?

I know commenting is a pain in the butt due to the number of entries, but as a noob, I learn from comments, and if your gonna give someone a bad score, at least tell em why in a simple sentence; I guess unless it's paintfully obvious! So to sum up my wordy post, in the future please take the time to at least write a simple comment if it's a middle of the road low score, I think it will help us all out. I know as I learn more, I plan on leaving more comments.

thx for listening to me whine (can I have some cheese?).

I think perhaps it feels a little cluttered. Having the cork so head-on kind of cuts off the rest of the image.

It's also a little dark with not much detail anywhere, quite a lot of blowout areas on the corkscrew and bottle.

Also having everything lying flat isn't very dramatic.

I would have gotten higher and used more lights or a bounce flash - giving you a faster shutter than 1/8th as this has caused some noise in the bg.

Ps: I shot exactly the same subject as you ->
