So I put a long long comment on a shot in a current challenge (being the good community member that I am), only to see the daily maintenance screen when I hit enter. I try to go back a page to get the comment back, but I can't get there. Very annoying and a bit demotivating... I don't really want to go back and write it all again. There must be a workaround for this?

Yup, some of my finest prose has been obliterated by the maintenance monster. Copy to the clipboard as goc said. Hard to remember though. I know that sinking feeling when you click the post button and glance at the Windows clock at the same time and scream NOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!! And rewrites never have the same emotional impact - you're heart's just not in it any more. I think it's probably ultimately damaging to the soul.

Seems like there's some sort of class action cause in all the jibberish above. :P

they have a thingy in place for if you take too long and you get logged off, that was kinda nice when it happened. The screen said words to the effect of,

you have been loged out....etc

Here is the comment that you were trying to submit if you wish to copy it.

then it had my long winded comment

There's a really easy solution to the "daily maintenance eating your comments" problem! If you'll notice, at the very bottom right corner of your computer screen there's a small group of numbers that are separated by a colon and are followed by either an AM or PM. (Your configuration might be slightly different.) Ok...now, here is the trick to making this work...if the numbers (these numbers are collectively referred to as TIME) are getting close to when the site does it's daily maintenance...at exactly the same time every day...hold off on clicking the "Post" button for a few minutes. Problem solved! Tada!

lol...ok, I'm being a smartass...and I've lost comments and forum posts due to the daily maintenance, too. But I try now to pay attention to the time before I hit "Post" and it's saved a lot of grief.

:-)

This must be fairly new. I've certainly never seen this. If it has been implemented will make a good improvement. I wish this type of improvement to the site was advertised in the 'News' section.

Certainly if a reminder a few minutes before maintenance could 'pop up' might be helpful, but probably hard to implement. There is always the 'be mindful of the time' issue as pointed out. There might be a thread on why this 'Maintenance' has been introduced, however I don't recall seeing this either on the News section, which would have been good and informative. I guess it is something that 'must' occur daily now.

Hey Bob - Good to see you around again! :-) You've certainly obtained a handful of cameras recently, eh?
