Any Lightroom users know the answer to this?

Lightroom allows you to create virtual copies so you can develop them in two or more different ways. However, since they all come from the same original file, when you go to create a website with both versions, the export fails to create that version of the picture.

It tries, but the first is like Photo.jpg and the second one is Photo_1.jpg. The website is created with a placeholder for the second one, but the actual photo nevers gets exported.

Any ideas how to make this happen?

Hmm -- A very curious situation indeed. I just tried to reproduce this several different ways with my own Lightroom install (v1.2 on Winblows) and I cannot see the problem you describe. As expected, I see the "filename_x.jpg" files for each virtual copy.

Can you post some specifics:
- How you made your selection for the web export (i.e. are you using a collection... are you using a selection of pictures from a folder... did you create a "sub-selection" from the filmstrip view, etc...)?
- What template did you start with (HTML or Flash, what template name, etc.)?
- Did you make any substantial changes to the template before exporting?
- Are you using the "Export" or "Upload" function to generate your final gallery?
- What version of Lightroom are you using, and for what platform?

I'll try again to reproduce it with the same steps you did.

Sorry to miss your reply.

I'm using 1.2 as well.. I did the upload method to send it directly to a website.

From the Adobe forums...

"Wait for it to be fixed in a future version of LR. There's really no way to work around Virtual Copy behavior."

and

"You can use Export to, say a JPEG file, and both copies will be produced, then proceed from there. sorta a workaround."

I'm still not sure I'm seeing the same problem... I've created 4 virtual copies of one photo and exported them all (all 5) to a web album (using several different templates, both Flash and HTML); I don't see any problems with mine. Which template are you using?
